Vanuatu is getting a new private island – and it's now open for bookings

A Vanuatuan island will be coming to Royal Caribbean itineraries.

Picture this: soft, white sand beneath your toes. Lush greenery behind you. And the bluest ocean waters spread out in front of you. This dream will soon become reality at Royal Caribbean’s new private island stop, Lelepa, in the South Pacific Archipelago east of Australia. While the tropical paradise won’t be complete until October 2027, bookings have officially opened.

Lelepa will grace Royal Caribbean’s Vanuatu itineraries.

Making cruise history, Lelepa is the first private island cruise destination in the Southern Hemisphere. This is a departure from the famous Caribbean Coco Cay island experience. Instead of theme-park-esque delights, the aim here will be true and sympathetic to the Vanuatu South Pacific location and culture.

This locally-inspired experience was largely driven by the research around Australian travellers’ appetite and desire for local culture in Vanuatu and beyond. Think serene beaches, nature trails, water activities and delicious dining. But also involvement with local villages and communities from the get-go. Every detail from the design to crop selection (it will be locally grown produce for guests) was a combined effort with locals and Royal Caribbean.

The floating bar is sure to be a highlight.

Lelepa’s east beach will be set up exclusively for cruisers.
